S☉….you wanna know?
I’ve been creating since I can remember. It its what makes me whole. For a long time I thought my works being imperfect meant you wouldn’t find worth in them, and so even tho I genuinely enjoy my creations, I convinced myself they weren’t worth other people’s time. I was not William Blake, Dylan Thomas, or Dave Gahan.
…of course I’m not. If you ask me who I am, I reply: Sonata. I was born long enough ago that watching Babes in Toyland on VHS, ignited one of my first celebrity crushes. So, I have also convinced myself over the years that time was somehow important. My cruelty toward myself pushed me away from doing what I’ve always known I was meant to do. Share my art.
So, you have found yourself here in my world of expression…which may not live up to the greats, or may not be to your tastes, but as artists it is our responsibility to share our work…to let it find who it may.
I reply: Sonata. conduit, artist, dreamer👽
Stuff, Thangs, Loves, Obsessions
Roland Orzabal, Dave Gahan, and Martin L. Gore are my greatest vocal influences.
Guy Pearce’s Broken Bones is one of my ‘can’t live without’ albums, alongside Savage Garden’s debut, Depeche Mode’s ULTRA and Tears For Fears’ The Hurting.
Michael Wincott in anything.
Seasick, Yet Still Docked by Morrissey is my theme song. (But, maybe that will change, soon.)
Dogs.
The way Bryan Ferry’s vocals drop in on Sentimental Fool.
My dogs.
Mads Mikkelsen.
The Godfather, Goodfellas, Eastern Promises, The Prophecy, Ravenous.
Your dogs.
Shortparis, Interpol, Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music, Turkish pop….. more to come as I get bored and use this as a way to to fill the void that Livejournal surveys left.
